Ariel joined our rescue family because she was getting picked on at the turkey farm because she couldn’t make any sounds. She lost her voice, and there was no obvious reason why. She fit right into our crazy little family and has been an amazing snuggle turkey to everyone that comes to see her. She has also been such an ambassador for friends that have suffered through their own trauma and are experiencing similar situations of selective mutism or anxiety in general. She was our example of “you are loved just as you are, and take all the time you need”!

 

UPDATE: Ariel found her voice!! She has all the words and sounds now! We are so happy and proud of her! Now she is our example of perseverance, growth, triumph, and hope!!!We have so much to learn from our rescued friends, and it’s our great pleasure to get to tell their stories!! This is what Safe in Austin is all about!
