The newest official member of our family who also happens to be starting his training to become an autism service dog and official ambassador of Safe in Austin Rescue Ranch! While Angel can never be replaced, we know for a fact she sent this sweet boy to bring joy and protection over us, all our rescue animals, and to the countless children and families he will meet over the years.
He will continue Angel’s work of not only being there for Jackson and my family when needed, but spreading awareness to people everywhere about Autism Service dogs. Over the last month we have been evaluating his behavior, social skills, recovery time, sensitivity, eye contact and more. With the help of my friend Diane with Just Dawg it, (who was the first person I ever talked to about bringing Angel home six years ago.) we have officially begun his training. Right now, while we are still waiting on his final round of puppy shots and learning basic obedience, so “Service dog training” just means exposing him to as much as possible while keeping him safe. (Ex- keeping him in the cart while in a public place). I can tell you so far, he is shockingly chill and mature and soaking it all in like a sponge! Many many pictures to come as we invite you to follow us on our journey as we use our knowledge and many of our partners and friends to train our next Autism Service dog. I am blessed to know many incredible trainers and organizations that we will lean on during this process and can’t wait to share it will you.
If you are not aware of how we started, please take a moment to visit and read about our Angel.
We miss you and love you so much, Angel girl. Everyday I’m thankful for the miracle you were to us, and I promise that Gabriel and I will try to make you so very proud.
