Crook came to us as a young Silkie. He is a rooster, but is very sweet natured and acts more like a hen. Because he has a disfigured beak, we have to pay extra attention to him. His beak has to be trimmed often to make sure he can close it enough to peck at his food and properly groom himself. Most people wouldn’t be willing to spend extra time on a chicken with special needs, but we think his life is worth the effort.
Crook is a wonderful ambassador for visitors that come to us with physical disabilities of their own. He teaches us that nothing will get in his way even a completely sideways face! Crook is a special part of our family here at Safe in Austin!
