Rex is a sulcata tortoise and is not a rescue animal. His full name is Torto-saurus Rex, and he was a birthday present for Jackson on his 10th birthday!   Jackson has always been obsessed with dinosaurs, and ever since he was little it always hurt his heart that he could never actually have one of his very own.  Bringing Rex to the ranch to live with us was the closest we could come to giving Jackson his own dinosaur.  Rex may eventually weigh as much as 200 pounds, but since he will likely live 90+ years that is something we won’t have to worry about for quite a while.  We can’t wait to see what Torto-saurus Rex will grow into and the fun we will have growing old together.
